Aggregate

Aggregates are sand, gravel, and crushed stone. Over 90% are used in construction, since aggregates are necessary for making concrete and asphalt. In fact, aggregates comprise 70 – 80% of concrete, and about 95% of asphalt mixtures. Without aggregates we wouldn’t have homes, highways, hospitals, buildings, airports, or any other structure used by Californians. The construction of an average home, including necessary neighborhood infrastructure, requires nearly 400 tons of aggregates. Construction aggregates form the underpinnings of our cities, towns, and transportation networks.
Our construction aggregates are used in a number of ways. As a base material underneath highways, walkways, airport runways, parking lots, and railroads. To aid in water filtration, purification, and erosion control. As a raw material used in combination with other resources to construct many of the items we rely on to sustain our quality of life. These include: Houses and apartments, roads, bridges, parking lots, schools, hospitals, commercial buildings and retail space, sewer systems, airports and runways. Holliday Rock does more than produce aggregate – it is a leader in providing technical support for its customers. Holliday’s Quality Control department rigorously tests aggregates to ensure the consistent production of high-performing asphalt and concrete materials.
